I recently saw a YouTube video made by NikkieTutorials about the power of makeup, accompanied by a transformation: on one half of her face she created a bold, glam makeup look and the other half of her face was completely bare, no makeup products what so ever.
The video: The Power of Makeup
Of course the difference was more than dramatic. BUT that's exactly
the joy of a well applied makeup, so you can play in such a manner, with eyeshadows,
foundations and other products, that you can become what you want to be in that
moment. Makeup allows you to always be another person, if that is what you want.
And I’m going to talk here about the phrase I mentioned in
the beginning. Of course we all have many "faces": one we use at
work, one for our family, another with friends, one for shopping at the market,
another when we go to a party, a completely different one when we’re home
alone, in pajamas, with our hair in a very messy bun and so on.
Human personality is too complex for us to show only one
part of who we are in the multitude of social events in which we find ourselves
every day. That does not mean we’re lying or deceiving people about who we are.
That just means that we're such complex beings that a single meeting or a
unique situation where someone has seen our reactions, does not define us in
our immense variety of traits and experiences.
And more so we should not be defined and we should not define
others by what they wear, their makeup, weight, age, by what car they drive or
what house they have or any other shallowness.
Each of us is unique and beautiful in our own way. One must
only give us a chance and give ourselves, in turn, a chance to others to reveal
what makes them beautiful.
And since we talked about transforming our image with
makeup, I recreated this little experiment and used makeup on only half of my
face. The result? See below.
Quite interesting, right? Yep, it’s the makeup from the
picture at the beginning of this post.
Makeup is another form of art, it allows me to develop my creativity, to relax, to forget about my troubles for a period of time. For me it's not a mask, for me makeup represents a way to express a part of my self, a part that would not be visible otherwise.

Send me your opinions on the subject, examples of situations
in which you may have been the target of mean comments due to the makeup you
wore or comments like: "but you're already beautiful, you don’t need
makeup." We've all been there! :)
P.S.: The products I used and the way I applied
everything will be shared in an upcoming post. Stay tuned!
